Urgent Care Q & A

What is considered “urgent care?”

If you are too ill to wait until Dr. Medley’s regular office hours, but not sick enough to go to the emergency room, you might benefit from an urgent care visit. Health issues like excessive bleeding from a laceration, a sprained ankle, persistent diarrhea, ear pain, sore throat, intense abdominal pain or a high fever with flu-like symptoms are treated during urgent care visits. Just call Dr. Medley’s office and, if you’re sick after business hours, book an online appointment or follow the prompts on the voicemail to reach Dr. Medley.

Can I follow medical advice I get online?

The internet is a wonderful tool, but it’s not a substitute for treatment by a qualified internist like Dr. Medley. Patient care and safety are her top priorities. Once she gets your urgent message, Dr. Medley will immediately call you back to ask questions about your symptoms. If you start treating yourself and taking medication without your doctor’s help, there’s a chance you could complicate your recovery.

How soon will Dr. Medley see me when I call to schedule an urgent care appointment?

That depends on the day and time you call to schedule your appointment. If it’s during office hours, Dr. Medley’s staff may be able to accommodate you in between patients and will make every effort to do so. If you call after the office is closed, please follow the prompts to reach the doctor. If you think you may be having a medical emergency, chances are that you’re having one so don’t think twice and go to your closest emergency room to seek care immediately.

If you’re suffering from a non-life threatening medical condition, then call or schedule an appointment online with Dr. Medley. The practice is currently welcoming new patients and accepts most major forms of insurance.
